Long ostracized by the fashion world and free-thinking feminists, there may be hope remaining for the nude stocking, and it’s all thanks to the former Kate Middleton, the Boston Globe reports. Closely-watched for her intelligent fashion sense, the only hang-up fashionistas have about the otherwise gorgeous Duchess of Cambridge is her penchant for sheer pantyhose—a faux pas that inspires images of her royal grandmother-in-law, rather than the hip young royal she is. But as Globe writer Beth Teitell admits, there might actually be something to the sheer hose, “Her knees did not look dirty because she’d un-artfully applied a self-tanner. Prickly hairs were not showing. Pastiness was not an issue.”

The Guardian tweaks the "somewhat aging look," but results don't lie: "Since the royal engagement, nude stockings are reportedly flying off the shelves in England," Teitell notes. "Would it be premature to stop shaving my legs?" (More Kate Middleton stories.)
