Excedrin, Bufferin, NoDoz Recalled

Some bottles of Excedrin, Bufferin, NoDoz, and Gas-X are being recalled because an internal company investigation has found chipped and broken pills, and the presence of stray pills from other medicines in packaging. No ill effects have been reported, but Swiss manufacturer Novartis is issuing the recall as a "precaution," said spokesmen. Officials are concerned consumers might unknowingly take pills they're allergic to, or pills that could be dangerous when mixed with other medicines.

Affected are bottles of Excedrin and NoDoz with a December 2014 expiration or earlier, and Bufferin and Gas-X with a December 2013 expiration or earlier, reports ABC News. The company has temporarily suspended operations and shipments from its Nebraska plant, and is working with the Food and Drug Administration. (More Excedrin stories.)
