Freshman Derrick Rose continues to blossom into an elite player, scoring a career-high 26 to lead No. 2 Memphis to a 79-69 victory over Cincinnati. The Bearcats, led by Deonta Vaughn’s 20 points, put up a tough fight but came up short, dropping their record to 4-6. The Tigers (9-0) are off to their best start in over 20 years, reports the AP. Elsewhere in college basketball:

  • No. 16 Butler, led by A.J. Graves’ 21 points, beat Bradley 83-64. The Bulldogs also got 17 points from freshman Mike Green to run their record to 10 -1.
  • Four different Volunteers scored in double-digits as No. 12 Tennessee defeated UNC-Asheville 86-73. Mike Graves led Tennessee with 24 points and became the school’s all-time 3-point shooter.
