After Todd Akin made his controversial "legitimate rape" comments in August, he quickly became a pariah in the Republican party. Indiana's Richard Mourdock, on the other hand, is seeing a rush of GOP support, despite his own controversial rape and pregnancy comments, reports Politico. The final days will see a $4 million media blitz on his behalf thanks to groups such as American Crossroads, the National Republican Senatorial Committee, and the Club for Growth.

Rretaining Mourdock's Senate seat has became more important than ever for Republicans as the election season winds down. It's been a GOP seat since Richard Lugar won it in 1977, but thanks in part to Mourdock's anti-abortion comment, Democrat Joe Donnelly is in a strong position to win it. “It’s a coin flip,” says one Republican. That might be optimistic: A new Indiana Battleground Poll shows Donnelly ahead 47%-36%, reports the Indianapolis Star. (More Richard Mourdock stories.)
