Predators freeze Flames, Leafs snap skid against Hurricanes

Jose Theodore survived a 22-shot barrage in the third period, leading Colorado to a 3-0  shutout victory over the Lightning, the AP reports. The win is the third straight for the Avalanche, the shutout the 24th of Theodore's career, and first since 2004.  Tampa has fallen short in 12 of their last 15 contests. In other NHL action:

  • The Predators' Chris Mason likewise doused the Flames, shutting out Calgary 3-0. JP Dumont had a goal and an assist  for Nashville, who handed the Flames their fourth straight defeat.
  • The Maple Leafs snapped a five-game skid, edging out Carolina last night, 5-4. The win marks merely the third for Toronto in their last 14 games.
