Hayward scored a career-high 23 points and pulled down 8 rebounds. Wesley Matthews helped put the game away for the Golden Eagles (15-4, 5-3 Big East) by hitting three late 3-pointers and scoring 16 points overall, according to the Associated Press. The Bulls (10-11, 1-7 Big East) had a 10-4 run early in the second half to tie the game at 42. For a time it appeared that South Florida might add a tally to the long list of upsets that have characterized the Big East this season but Marquette was able to pull away down the stretch.
