Two Texas high school football players have been suspended after one charged a ref from behind, hitting him hard, and the second tackled him while he was on the ground. "The incident is extremely disturbing," says a rep for Northside Independent School District, which includes the two players' John Jay High School. "Not the sportsmanlike behavior we teach students." Per KSAT, two John Jay players had been ejected earlier in the game and sources say the ref may have admonished John Jay players before the hit. The ref is being identified as Robert Watts, and an Austin Football Officials Association rep tells the AP that the man is "very upset" and "wanting to press charges." Continues the rep: "The first thing we want is that those two kids never play football again." KSAT has the video. (More football stories.)
