A Saudi wife who posted footage of her husband pursuing and groping their maid could face jail time and a stiff fine for defaming him—and in the process has caused a social media outcry, largely in her defense, reports Emirates 24/7. The woman let the footage of her husband's antics, described by Emirates 24/7 as "flirting" but by the Telegraph as "cheating" and "assaulting a family maid," speak for itself, adding just one comment of her own: "The minimal punishment for this husband is to scandalize him."

But a lawyer warns the punishment for the wife could be far worse. "She faces up to one year in prison or a fine of SR500,000 [$134,000] for defaming her husband in line with the law on information technology crimes," a local lawyer tells Sada newspaper. The Telegraph notes that the entire incident takes places in front of another woman, who appears to be another maid. Within 12 hours of being posted online, #SaudiWomanCatchesHusbandCheating garnered more than 25,000 mentions on Twitter, and the clip has been viewed more than half a million times on YouTube as of this writing. (A study determined who is more likely to cheat in a relationship.)
