Henrik Zetterberg was responsible for all of the Detroit Red Wings’ scoring in their 3-1 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets. All three of the Swede’s goals came in the third period; it was his third career hat-trick. Columbus’ tally came on Manny Malhotra’s second period power-play goal, his fifth in the past three games, reports the Associated Press. Elsewhere:

  • Carolina net minder Cam Ward recorded 31 saves in the Hurricanes’ 5-3 win over the Atlanta Thrashers. It was Carolina’s third win over Atlanta in a month, and their 10th in their last 12 games overall. Sergei Samsonov had a goal and an assist for the Hurricanes; rookie Bryan Little did the same for the Thrashers.
