Democrats aren't happy with the idea of former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz running as an independent in 2020, and President Trump himself doesn't seem too worried. "Howard Schultz doesn't have the 'guts' to run for President!" Trump tweeted Monday morning. "Watched him on @60Minutes last night and I agree with him that he is not the 'smartest person.' Besides, America already has that! I only hope that Starbucks is still paying me their rent in Trump Tower!" The tweet comes after Schultz announced on the news program that he might run as a "centrist independent."

The president's "smartest person" dig is a reference to a self-deprecating remark Schultz made about himself during the interview. He said, in regard to his business experience, that he had "a long history of recognizing, I'm not the smartest person in the room," per CNBC. Schultz led the coffee company for more than two decades before leaving last year. Business Insider confirms that Starbucks does indeed have a location in Trump Tower in New York. As for 2020 implications, Democrats are worried that Schultz would split the anti-Trump vote. (More Howard Schultz stories.)
