The mother of East Cleveland serial killer Michael Madison was found dead in her Cleveland home Saturday, and her 18-year-old grandson has been charged with her murder. Police say Jalen Plummer stabbed Diane Madison, variously reported as 67 or 62, to death around 12:15am that day, Cleveland.com reports. He is also accused of stabbing his 10-year-old sister, 12-year-old brother, and 10-year-old cousin as they slept; two of the children ran to the home of a neighbor, who called 911. Plummer was found covered in blood and showering inside the home, according to court records; he was treated for injuries to his fingers and palms.
Plummer faces charges of aggravated murder and felonious assault; he pleaded not guilty Monday, per Cleveland 19. The children are still hospitalized and two required surgery, but they are all expected to survive. Police have not commented on a possible motive. They have also not commented on Plummer's relationship to Michael Madison, but according to Fox 8, one of the children stabbed is Michael Madison's child. Michael Madison was sentenced to death in 2016 for the strangling deaths of three women; at his trial, his attorneys accused Diane Madison and one of her boyfriends of severely abusing her son during his childhood.
