The anti-American cleric Moqtada al-Sadr has urged radical Shi’ite militants to strike American targets in Iraq as retaliation for US support of Israeli’s attack on Gaza, the Times of London reports. Al-Sadr also called on nations with Israeli consulates to close those missions in solidarity with Palestine. A US official said al-Sadr’s call is “outrageous and, frankly, not worthy of much more comment.”

The Shai cleric, who is believed to be in Iran, today called on the Iraqi resistance "to engage in revenge operations against the United States, the biggest partner of the Zionist enemy." Al-Sadr also encouraged Iraqis to fly the Palestinian flag from public buildings, in support of “the mujahedeen in Gaza.”
