The half-sister of the California woman who asserted Wednesday that their father was the dreaded Zodiac killer of the 1960s isn’t having any of it, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Janice Hendrickson’s father “couldn’t hurt a fly,” she said today. “He did have a temper, and he did hit me, but did he kill people? I don’t believe he did.”

Hendrickson doubts the reliability of her half-sister, Deborah Perez. “My father found Deborah and her mother, a dime-a-dance girl, in Tijuana, Mexico,” she said. “They lived in a place with dirt floors. That woman had seven kids. She used my father. How can you believe Deborah?” Perez finds the accusation ridiculous. “How in the world would being born in poverty in Mexico have anything to do with my credibility?” (More serial killers stories.)
