A former US soldier convicted of raping and murdering a 14-year-old Iraqi girl and shooting dead her parents and baby sister told investigators that joining the army was the "worst decision I ever made," reports CNN. "I suppose you think I'm a monster," Steven Green told police who busted him, according to recently released court documents.

"All my buddies were getting killed. My lieutenant got his face blown off. George Bush and Dick Cheney ought to be the ones arrested," the former infantry private told detectives who arrested him at his grandmother's house in North Carolina. Green was convicted for the 2006 crime last week in a Kentucky court, and faces a possible death sentence this week. Four other former  soldiers have been sentenced to up to 110 years for participating in the crimes and coverup.
