Idaho's outed senator has long wielded his political power against gay rights, and gay advocates, having heard whispers for years, have been keeping track. Larry Craig, whose arrest for cruising in a Minneapolis airport bathroom was made public yesterday, opposes civil unions, gays in the military, and the extension of hate crime law to prosecute violence based on sexual orientation, the Carpetbagger Report says.

Craig also boasts a 96% rating from the American Conservative Union, reports the National Review. The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force issued a statement detailing his support for a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage. Meanwhile, Craig’s endorsement video for Mitt Romney has been pulled from the presidential hopeful’s website; the disgraced senator’s support had been based on Romney’s “family values.” (More Larry Craig stories.)
