Rush Limbaugh blamed the NFL players' union, pressure from "race hustlers" such as Al Sharpton, and unfair media coverage for his failed bid at NFL ownership, reports Bloomberg. He also said Dave Checketts—the man who organized the bid—cleared Limbaugh's name with "people at the highest level" of the NFL before approaching him to come aboard. Checketts dumped Limbaugh yesterday. “I feel terrible about this, but we can’t go forward with you in the group,’ ” Limbaugh quoted Checketts as saying.

“The real reason that pressure was brought upon me ... is that the players association is using my involvement with the Rams and this whole episode as a bit of leverage in their negotiations, their upcoming negotiations, with the league and with the owners on a new collective bargaining agreement,” Limbaugh said. “That is what is really going on.” (More Rush Limbaugh stories.)
