Rumor has it that ABC is in negotiations to bring back Ted Koppel to host its Sunday show This Week. The former Nightline anchor would helm the show three times a month, reports Mike Allen at Politico, with the final week rotating among potential future hosts. The head of ABC News, however, tells Allen that “just about every specific that you have is false.”

Koppel may veto the deal because his longtime producer, Tom Bettag, won’t be part of it. But friends say Koppel would be interested in the job, and ABC may want a familiar face, given that Good Morning America and World News each have new anchors. Koppel is currently the managing editor of the Discovery Channel.
