Sure, Elena Kagan might be a Supreme Court justice soon, but how would she handle a fastball? One of the press photos of Kagan shows her crouching over the plate in a softball game, so MLB.com decided to pass the shot around the locker room before yesterday's Mets/Natonals game and see what the players thought of her stance. “It actually looks good,” says Rod Barajas. “That's something you could work with.”

Ivan Rodriguez agreed. “I think the batting stance is perfect, right there,” he said. But Ryan Zimmerman wasn't so sure. “She's got the Barry Bonds choke-up working, maybe that's two strikes on her,” he said. And Jeff Francoeur laughed off Barajas' and Rodriguez's optimism. “They're catchers,” he said, noting that her feet were too far apart, and her hands too close together. Then he was told Kagan was a Mets fan. “Is she? Well tell her I like her then. Tell her she's got a good stance.” (More Elena Kagan stories.)
