(Newser) – He left her for Oksana Grigorieva, but now Mel Gibson’s soon-to-be-ex-wife is defending him against Grigorieva. “Mel never engaged in any physical abuse of any kind toward me before, during, or after our marriage,” Robyn Gibson told the judge overseeing the Gibson-Grigorieva custody battle yesterday. Grigorieva reportedly wants to strip all of Gibson’s custody rights to their daughter, but sources tell TMZ the judge allowed Gibson to keep his visitation rights.

“Robyn's tried to stay out of this, but she wanted to make sure there was no speculation of what happened within her family,” a source tells People.
