Biden: Dems Will 'Shock Heck Out of' GOP in Nov.

It's not every day gaffe-prone Joe Biden gets sent in to rescue the official White House mouthpiece, so savor this one: The veep forcefully backpedaled on Robert Gibbs' assertion last week that Dems could lose the House, saying, "I think we're going to shock the heck out of everybody." Biden predicted what he termed a "summer of recovery," and said Dems would successfully make their case come November. Elsewhere, according to Politico:

  • If the GOP does get a congressional majority come November, it'll move quickly to "repeal and replace" health reform, says John Cornyn. The measure that passed "has almost no reform."
  • Rebuffing President Obama's rip that Senate Republicans are "filibustering our recovery," Mitch McConnell complained that the White House has taken the nation on a “gargantuan spending spree.”
  • Mike Pence, a Republican rep from Ohio, says the "American people are frustrated with the lack of leadership out of this administration."
