The makers of POM Wonderful aren't letting an FTC complaint against their health claims slow down the marketing of their pomegranate juice one bit, USA Today reports. POM is now making bold claims in that other advertising standby: sex. In a series of steamy new ads, POM presents the pomegranate as temptation embodied both in ancient Greece and the Garden of Eden.

POM co-owner Lynda Resnick says she "certainly" believes that pomegranate juice enhances one's sex life, but critics charge that any claims of sexual enhancement are as bogus as POM's claims about longevity and immune function. To wit: one of the claims challenged by the FTC is that POM alleviates erectile dysfunction, notes LA Weekly. For an assessment of the company's health claims, see the Los Angeles Times.
