Cue the conspiracy theories in the land down under: Australian officials say they’ve been unable to locate decades' worth of UFO records. After Great Britain released thousands of its own ‘X-files’ last year, the Sydney Morning Herald filed a Freedom of Information request for Australia’s version of the records, reports the Telegraph. Two months of digging through governmental archives later, a spokesman says the files have likely been destroyed, the result of “normal administrative procedure.”

UFO enthusiasts in Australia aren't happy. "It does seem strange that Australia would be destroying these files while England and America was putting theirs online and making them public.” Another adds: “It would be interesting to know if they have thrown anything else out. If not, it starts looking dodgy.” (More Australia stories.)
