Members of a Florida church leapt into action yesterday, when a former member walked in during prayers and started shooting. The pastor and the associate pastor were both shot from behind before Jeremiah Fogle was wrestled to the ground by two men. The pastors remain hospitalized today. Fogle, who had started his own church at his house, allegedly shot and killed his wife before going on the rampage at his former church, the AP reports.

“The first thing in my mind was, ‘I have to take this gun away,’” says one of the men who tackled Fogle. “He had a great grip on the gun. My plan was, as soon as he hit the floor, it would cause him to drop it. But he didn't drop it.” Finally, after three or four minutes, the men got the gun away. No one else at the church was hurt, but the sheriff says Fogle had six rounds on him and “was prepared to shoot even more.” No motive is yet known. (More shooting stories.)
