Madonna will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next year, the Associated Press reports. The shape-shifting pop star will formally enter the Hall at the annual ceremony on March 10 in New York, along with fellow inductees John Mellencamp, Leonard Cohen, the Ventures and the Dave Clark Five.

Madonna’s first record deal was with Sire Records in 1982, and her hit single “Like a Virgin” two years later brought heavy rotation on an infant MTV and boosted her to international stardom. Musicians must have put out their first single or album at least 25 years ago to be considered for Hall of Fame nomination. (More Madonna stories.)
