The newest registered lobbyist on Capitol Hill represents none other than the American Nazi Party. No joke: John Bowles registered this week to represent the "ANP," reports the Hill. He says his main focus will be to try to loosen up election laws to make it easier for like-minded citizens to run. "In the future, when we get people on the ballot, when people see the swastika on the ballot, they’ll know what they’re getting."

Bowles doesn't think he'll have a problem getting meetings with lawmakers, he tells a bemused Robert Schlesinger at US News & World Report, who notes that Bowles ran for president in 2008 on the National Socialist Movement ticket. Why the change in parties? Americans understand Nazism better than socialism, he explains. “So [we] decided: Why don’t we just say what we are?" (More lobbyist stories.)
