If an NFL's punting strategy is making headlines in April, that can mean only one thing: Tim Tebow is involved. ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted today that the Jets have told their new backup QB he's going to serve time on the punt squad next season as the blocking "punt protector." It actually makes good football sense, notes the Pro Football Talk blog, because having Tebow on the field would turn every Jets punt into a potential fake.

But Business Insider thinks the leaked report is probably bogus, part of the team's "genius" strategy to lower expectations and dampen talk of a QB rivalry between Tebow and starter Mark Sanchez. "The Eagles did the same thing when they signed Mike Vick to back up Donovan McNabb a few years ago, and Vick never saw the time at wide receiver that the preseason rumors suggested."
