The widow of one of the 9/11 pilots who herself became a public figure as she ran a scholarship foundation in her husband's name has died of natural causes at age 52, reports the Denver Post. Sandy Dahl died in her sleep but had been in good health, say friends. Her husband, Jason, was the pilot of Flight 93 that crashed in Pennsylvania. Sandy believed he fought along with passengers against the hijackers and founded a scholarship in his name to help train young pilots.
She also spoke out more and more on behalf of those on Flight 93, despite suffering from nightmares and a diagnosis of post-traumatic stress disorder. "They did what would almost never be asked of anyone," she said last year. "I want to make sure history is written." (Read more United Flight 93 stories.)
