Mad Men could soon become the most-honored drama in television history: Emmy nominations were announced this morning, and the AMC show is in the lead with a whopping 17 nominations, including lead acting honors for Jon Hamm and Elisabeth Moss, as well as a Best Drama nod. American Horror Story matches that impressive number, with a Best Miniseries or Movie nod among its 17 nominations as well as an acting nod for Connie Britton, the AP reports.

Mad Men has already won four Best Drama trophies, and this would be its fifth. If it claims the award, it will move past Hill Street Blues, LA Law, and The West Wing, all of which also have four trophies under their belts. Other leading nominees: drama series Downton Abbey, plus two miniseries, Hatfields & McCoys and Hemingway & Gellhorn. (Interestingly, American Horror Story competed as a drama in previous awards ceremonies, but has now rebranded itself as a miniseries.) The Emmys air Sept. 23, with Jimmy Kimmel hosting.
