Some stuffed shirts at the State Department have decided that a rocker who sings about partying until you puke might not be an appropriate American cultural ambassador to a troubled Middle Eastern nation. "King of partying" Andrew WK says a government-sponsored trip for him to visit elementary schools, a university, and music venues in Bahrain has been cancelled, Reuters reports. A State Department spokeswoman says the visit was initially approved but was nixed by senior management who decided it wasn't a good use of US funds.
"The conclusion was when they looked at the body of his work that we didn't need to be part of this invitation," the spokeswoman says. "There may have been some preliminary conversations with him but he is not going to be going to Bahrain on the US government's dime." The rocker, whose hits include "Party Til You Puke" and "Party Hard," is staying positive despite the rejection, reports ABC. "They can cancel our party in the Middle East, but they can never cancel the party in our hearts," he tweeted. (Read more State Department stories.)
