It's kind of amazing that this wasn't illegal already: Students will no longer be able to smoke pot in Amsterdam's schools, the city's mayor announced today. Just as amazing: It's the first city in the Netherlands to introduce such a ban, reports the AP. A city rep says that while the schools themselves have always outlawed marijuana, they struggled to actually enforce the policy. Starting Jan. 1, they'll now be considered "no toking zones" under a public nuisance ordinance. Smoke pot on the playground, and police will be able to issue a fine. (Read more Amsterdam stories.)
