A banged up No. 5 North Carolina squad got exactly what it needed from Virginia Tech: not much resistance. Tyler Hansbrough scored 23 points and added nine rebounds as the Tar Heels cruised to a 92-53 ACC win over the reeling Hokies. North Carolina shot 50% from the floor and out-rebounded Tech 54-24.

The Hokies, who have lost three straight, hit just 7 of 17 shots in the first half en route to 43-23 deficit. The Tar Heels (24-2, 9-2) also got 19 points from Wayne Ellington to avenge last season's sweep by Tech. Hansbrough, was 11 of 12 from the free-throw line, and has scored at least 22 points in five straight games. (More NCAA stories.)
