It took Ohio firefighters about an hour over the weekend to pluck a Rottweiler off the third-story roof on which he'd been stranded—but it took three days and several calls from neighbors before officials apparently took the reports seriously, reports the Youngstown Vindicator. "It sounded like they took the call as a joke at first," says a neighbor. "I called a last time this morning since that dog seems like it's really struggling, and finally everybody's here."

The dog apparently made it out onto the roof via a hole in the attic; its owner showed up mid-rescue Saturday, explaining that he had been staying with a friend last week after the house had been broken into. The dog warden is hanging on to the Rottweiler for the time being as the owner doesn't have a license. "You might get a couple calls (a year) for a dog on a roof," says a local cop, "but never a roof that high up or for that long." (More Rottweiler stories.)
