"The argument was due to someone farting." That's what police were told after responding to a fight between two couples at Key West's Sloppy Joe's bar last Monday, the Miami Herald reports. It's not clear who farted or how exactly the fart set off the fight, but police say an argument "over a fart" was what sparked the incident. Richard McBride, 53, and girlfriend Sandra Stoner, 55, were at the bar with friends; Stoner allegedly had words with another woman and then "aggressively" confronted the woman, police say.

Others then got involved, including a man who tried to pull Stoner away, and McBride, who allegedly then pushed that man. That man allegedly hit McBride in the face and McBride allegedly tackled him. Police were unable to find the other couple, but McBride decided not to press charges anyway. He told police a fart started the fight but that even he wasn't sure exactly how, Local 10 reports. Not surprisingly, police say alcohol was likely involved. (More weird crimes stories.)
