While some countries are rich in culture and history, others are actually rich. 24/7 Wall St. has compiled a list of the world's 25 wealthiest countries based on gross national income, which it says is a "more useful measure of national wealth" than gross domestic product. The site found that the richest countries tend to have oil reserves, plentiful exports, a diverse economy, or a good position for trading. Here are the 10 wealthiest countries in the world, along with their GNI per capita:

  1. Qatar: $129,076.58
  2. Macao: $114,445.17
  3. Singapore: $77,537.90
  4. Kuwait: $76,075.21
  5. Norway: $67,614.35
  6. United Arab Emirates: $64,661.37
  7. Switzerland: $56,363.96
  8. Hong Kong: $54,264.91
  9. United States: $53,245.08
  10. Saudi Arabia: $50,641.31
