The same poll found that 33% of Americans consider torture "a part of war." But, if you're surprised by those numbers, the poll also found that 54% of Americans consider torture "wrong," though the Guardian notes that's a lower proportion than in any other country polled, save Israel (44%) and Palestine (35%).
