- Another source told agents that Lanza had become seriously withdrawn before the shooting. He hadn't left his bedroom in three months and only communicated with his mother through email.
- A number of people said Storm Sandy deeply upset Lanza when it knocked power out for days. Despite lacking electricity, Lanza refused to leave his room and go to a hotel.
