(Newser) – After kidney surgery and a weekslong absence from the public eye, Melania Trump is set to resurface—but she won't be joining her husband on his upcoming overseas trips. Spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham tells CNN that the first lady, in her first official appearance in 25 days, will attend an event at the White House to honor Gold Star families on Monday. But unlike last year, she will not be accompanying President Trump to the G7 summit, even though there's a lot less traveling involved, the Hill reports. This year's summit will be held in Quebec on Friday and Saturday. Last year's summit was held over two days in Sicily.

The first lady is also going to skip the planned June 12 summit in Singapore with Kim Jong Un. It's not clear whether the North Korean leader is planning to bring his wife. Melania Trump returned to the White House May 19 after five nights in Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, but she didn't join Trump and children Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Tiffany at the Camp David retreat over the weekend. After speculation in the media, the first lady addressed rumors about her absence last week. "I see the media is working overtime speculating where I am & what I'm doing," she tweeted on Wednesday. "Rest assured, I'm here at the @WhiteHouse w my family, feeling great, & working hard on behalf of children & the American people!" Monday night's event will be closed to the press.
