A Brooklyn man accused of chopping off his pregnant wife's right arm and two of her left fingers was caught Saturday night in Niagara Falls, NY. Yong Lu, 35, was caught at the welcome center near the Rainbow Bridge, wearing a life jacket, the Buffalo News reports. "We're assuming he was going to swim across" to Canada, a US deputy marshal says. Before his alleged plan to swim to Canada, the deputy marshal says Lu "talked to a bus driver and asked to ride over to Canada in the luggage compartment," but the driver refused.

Yang Li, 31, was home just after noon Friday, waiting for the couple's 7-year-old son to finish school, when her husband allegedly attacked, the New York Post reports; his motive is not clear. Police say he used a meat cleaver to sever her fingers and her entire right arm just above the elbow. Her arm was reattached in surgery. The New York City Police Department and the US Marshals got information that Lu had fled to the Niagara Falls area and eventually notified the Niagara Falls Police Department that he was eating dinner inside the One Niagara building downtown, the Niagara Gazette reports; NFPD tweeted a photo of his arrest inside a food court.
