When Joe Biden formally joined the 2020 race on Thursday, he delivered a scathing criticism of President Trump. The president has since acknowledged Biden's entry into the race with a nickname and a dig at the former VP's smarts: "Welcome to the race Sleepy Joe," Trump tweeted. "I only hope you have the intelligence, long in doubt, to wage a successful primary campaign. It will be nasty—you will be dealing with people who truly have some very sick & demented ideas. But if you make it, I will see you at the Starting Gate!"

Mediaite, meanwhile, provides a glimpse at how Biden's news was treated by MSNBC, CNN, and Fox News. MSNBC's coverage, via Morning Joe, was generally positive, with Joe Scarborough advising Biden to avoid trying to please the "Washington elites." CNN offered "sober and dispassionate analysis," while Fox compiled a montage of Biden "flubs" over the years. (Trump previously predicted that Biden would be one of the last two Democratic candidates standing.)
