A Cleveland man is going to have a very unhappy 2020 because of his reckless way of celebrating the new year—and his girlfriend isn't going to have one at all. Police say the 38-year-old man fatally injured his girlfriend while "popping off rounds" shortly after midnight at a New Year's Eve party he was hosting, Cleveland.com reports. The 31-year-old woman was hit in the chest and died in the hospital. The man was arrested at the scene and homicide detectives are investigating, reports 19 News. Police say there were at least a dozen New Year's Eve shootings in Cleveland but the woman was the only fatality. In another incident, at least four people were injured in a shooting outside a downtown nightclub around 1am. (More Cleveland stories.)
