Netflix's Jeffrey Dahmer series has been panned by critics—and by the relatives of victims, who say they weren't consulted or notified—but it has still been a huge hit for the streaming service. Deadline reports that Dahmer—Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is now the second most-watched English-language series in Netflix history, behind only the fourth series of Stranger Things. Netflix, which calculates the rankings based on viewing figures in the first 28 days after a release, has recorded just over 700 million viewing hours for the series, now in its third week, compared to 1.35 billion viewing hours in the first month of Stranger Things 4.

Dahmer knocked the second season of Bridgerton into third place this week, and it is also climbing up the ranks of Netflix series in any language, per the Hollywood Reporter. Squid Game and Stranger Things 4 top that chart. Dahmer is currently in fourth place, but it is expected to move up to third, above the final season of Money Heist, which had 792 million viewing hours. Dahmer murdered 17 men and boys between 1978 and 1991. According to Netflix's synopsis, the series "exposes these unconscionable crimes, centered around the underserved victims and their communities impacted by the systemic racism and institutional failures of the police that allowed one of America's most notorious serial killers to continue his murderous spree in plain sight for over a decade."
