Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is the top-paid player in the NFL this year with a tidy $27.7 million, USA Today reports. Big Ben renegotiated his contract in the spring to include a base salary of $2.5 million plus $25.2 million in signing bonuses. Another QB in the top 4: The Raiders' young JaMarcus Russell with a total of $16.8 million.

The top paychecks this year, beyond Roethlisberger and Russell:

  • 2. DE Jared Allen, Minnesota, $21.1 million
  • 3. WR Larry Fitzgerald, Arizona, $17.1 million
  • 5. RB Michael Turner, Atlanta, $16 million
  • 6. G Chris Snee, Giants, $14.9 million
  • 7. CB Asante Samuel, Philadelphia, $ 14.1 million
  • 8. WR Randy Moss, New England $14 million
  • 9. T Flozell Adams, Dallas, $14 million
  • 10. DT Tommy Kelly, Oakland, $13,9 million
