(Newser) – A decorated Iranian film director who describes himself as Roxana Saberi's fiance has written an open letter protesting her imprisonment, the BBC reports. "My letter is a desperate call to all statesmen, and to all those who can do something to help," Ghobadi writes. He says that far from spying on her country, Saberi was working on a book praising Iran. "The Americans have protested against her imprisonment, because she is an American citizen. But I say no, she is Iranian, she loves Iran." (Read more Roxana Saberi stories.)
