Florida police burned an alleged marijuana grower twice, or perhaps thrice, when they confiscated his crop, left a ransom note, and then arrested him when he answered it. A citizen tipped cops to the six large plants growing on a vacant lot. They grabbed them, and hoping for a bit more, left the note, which read “Thanks for the grow! You want them back? Call for the price.” And then…

Detectives “were laughing to see if somebody was dumb enough to call back,” a sheriff’s office official tells CNN. But that he did, about 20 minutes after the note was left. “They were shocked this guy called. They negotiated back and forth over a price, and finally settled at $200,” the official continues. Needless to say, the grower met with the “kidnappers,” forked over the money—and got a pair of cuffs in return. (More marijuana stories.)
