Late Democrat slammed for corruption, stance on Iraq

(Newser) – Right-leaning blog Uncoverage isn't shy about speaking ill of the dead when the deceased in question is Rep. John Murtha. The Pennsylvania Democrat was regularly ranked as one of Congress' most corrupt politicians and stuffed millions of dollars into pork projects for his district, including the barely used John Murtha Airport, which received $800,000 in stimulus funds, the blog notes.

Murtha demoralized the military by withdrawing his support for the Iraq war in 2005, Uncoverage charges, questioning the validity of the Vietnam vet's Purple Hearts. Murtha then maliciously threw a dozen Marines "under the political bus" by accusing them of killing civilians in Haditha. All but one of them have been exonerated. "Sympathies are extended to the Murtha immediate family, but not to anyone else," states Uncoverage. "You can't choose your family but you can choose your friends." (Read more John Murtha stories.)
