Bill Clinton had two stents inserted in a coronary artery today after being hospitalized with chest pain. The president is in "good spirits," a spokesman said. The former president, 63, had the procedure at Columbia Presbyterian in Manhattan after consulting with his cardiologist. Clinton has a history of heart trouble and had quadruple bypass surgery in 2004, notes CNN.

Clinton has been spending much of his time lately in Haiti on earthquake relief, and he just returned a few days ago from his second trip, reports the New York Times. Hillary Clinton learned of his hospitalization after a meeting with President Obama and was heading to New York. It's not clear whether the development will scuttle her plans to leave on a Mideast trip tomorrow. Chelsea was already at the hospital.
