Eliot Spitzer deserves another chance at political office even though he spent taxpayer money on trysts with a hooker, said embattled New York Governor David Paterson. The man who once served as Spitzer's lieutenant governor boasted that he personally has made a point of hiring talented individuals with mistakes in their past. Paterson said he hoped the same kind of "standard will be extended to Gov. Spitzer, who had tremendous talent, and I hope will be able to exercise it."

One beneficiary of Paterson's second-chance policly was his trusted aide David Johnson, hired despite two felony drug busts as a teen. Paterson ditched his election campaign and is now being investigated over charges that he tried to block a domestic violence case again Johnson, notes the New York Daily News.
