President Obama convened the biggest meeting of world leaders on US soil since the founding of the UN in 1945. And what did this week's historic gathering accomplish? Well, it generated a nonbinding statement saying that Ukraine, Chile, Mexico, and Canada will get rid of some enriched uranium. “What a relief,” writes Charles Krauthammer of the Washington Post. “I don’t know about you, but I lie awake nights worrying about Canadian uranium.”

“I know these people,” he continues. “I grew up there. You have no idea what they’re capable of.” If Sidney Crosby hadn’t scored that goal in the Olympics, they might have pushed the button. In all seriousness, Krauthammer thinks the entire conference was a ruse meant to distract attention from the looming threat of Iran, which wasn’t even discussed, and “regarding which Obama’s 15 months of terminally naïve ‘engagement’ has achieved nothing but the loss of 15 months.” (More nuclear summit stories.)
