Cinco de Mayo Ad Slaps McCain

A snarky new radio ad that skewers John McCain for supporting the Arizona immigration law hits the airwaves in Tucson today as part of a campaign to reengage Democratic voters. In the ad, which targets University of Arizona students, Arizona state troopers bust a Cinco de Mayo frat party. "We have reasonable suspicion to believe you are illegal aliens," a cop tells partygoers. "You are listening to Mexican music, drinking Mexican drinks, and speaking Spanish."

The campaign by liberal PAC Americans for America hopes to use opposition to the Arizona law to reengage women, Latinos, and students—the "surge voters of '08," a Democratic activist tells the Huffington Post. Besides the Cinco de Mayo ad, the campaign also includes a spot targeting Colorado Senate candidate Jane Norton and a bilingual ad to be aired in Las Vegas.
