Michael Steele would like Obama to give up golf—among other things—for as long as the Gulf is a mess. "Until this problem is fixed, no more golf outings, no more baseball games, no more Beatle concerts, Mr. President," he said. But Steele didn't drop it there. He then went on to compare Obama's leisure activities—the president spent four hours golfing with Joe Biden on Saturday—to those of yacht-race-watching Tony Hayward, reports the New York Daily News.

"While it is fitting and appropriate to look at the yachting activities of the BP CEO with incredulity, it is equally incredible that President Obama finds himself on yet another golf course as oil continues to spew into the Gulf," Steele opined. A DNC rep fired back at Steele's "rich" comments, saying, "Michael Steele and Republicans should apologize to the American people for being lap dogs for big oil, for groveling for forgiveness from BP, and for turning their backs on the people of the Gulf coast."
